I came to the Midlands from Surrey in 1985 to begin working with children with profound and multiple disabilities, a job I did until my retirement in 2011. I am married to Denise and have two boys and 3 grandchildren.
I took up golf after having to retire from cricket – playing for Rushton in the Northamptonshire Premier League. I am an enthusiastic member of the “B” team playing in both friendly and league competitions. I particularly enjoy playing with the Saturday and Sunday morning roll up, which is where many friendships are made! I presently play off 12 which has not really changed over the past 5 years. I have been a member of the Greens committee for the past 5 years – a role that I have found both enjoyable and at times challenging.
It was a great honour to be asked to be Steve’s vice-captain and consider the position to be a privilege. I hope to see an increase in social events over the following year and members becoming more involved in the functioning of our club. This year it has been great to see volunteers helping around the course, long may this continue and hopefully increase, after all it is OUR course and anything we can do to improve it must be a good thing.
My charity is “Young Carers” a local charity that supports young people under the age of 18 who have to care for their parents/siblings
