Subscription News

At the July meeting of the Management Committee the decision was made to once again hold the subscription rates for the forthcoming year at the current levels.

During the past 12 months the Club has made encouraging progress in the area of effective cost control and this is one of the reasons that enabled us to make the decision to maintain current subscription rates. Our financial projections are showing a surplus this year of just over £50,000. However, this does have to be seen in the light of minimal capital expenditure for the past 12 months and we do have some capital item expenditure being discussed for the next 12 months.

The decision to hold the subscription rates was taken after detailed discussions. There were other proposals on the table, such as a small increase or introducing a set percentage increase over a three year term so that Club Members would know what the longer term picture was.

Holding the current rates obviously results in less revenue for the Club. However, we believe that we still have opportunities to generate additional revenue through various Club activities and, with a continuing programme of cost control, along with being careful how and what we spend when we have to spend, we believe that we will be able to implement an effective budget without the need to increase Members costs at this stage.

Along with a desire to keep costs as low as possible to existing Members at a time when we don't really know what the next 12 months will hold in terms of the economy etc, a part of the decision making process was the recognition that we would like the Club to be seen as a long term option for golfers looking to either join a Club for the first time or maybe move from a Club where costs are rising. We have done reasonably well this year in attracting new Members to the Club and we hope that by maintaining the existing subscription rates, more potential members will want to take a look at us. Unlike many Clubs, we still have a joining fee and that will continue.

Also continuing will be the £50 Club Card amount to be spent in the Clubhouse.

We hope that Members will welcome the decision to maintain current subscription rates and encourage new potential golfers to take a look at what we can offer.
