I was born in Lincolnshire, moved away at 18, then moved around nationally and internationally with my materials engineering career, until I chose to come back to the East Midlands to be nearer my ageing parents, who were still living on the house I was born in.
I started playing golf in my 30’s at Broome Manor in Swindon, after playing many other sports. I initially played with my basketball coach, Bob and 2 teenagers, David Howell and Gary Harris – I didn’t understand what the “plus” meant on their handicaps, but they enjoyed the game and made it great fun for me. I have since been Lady Captain at Broome Manor and Coxmoor golf clubs and despite my handicap, I still play golf for fun.
I moved to Market Harborough after meeting and marrying David, joining the Golf Club in 2013 and ladies committee as Secretary 2 years ago.
I’m honoured to have been asked to be the Lady Captain at Market Harborough and I will endeavour to bring my enjoyment of the game and my experience from previous Captaincies at other clubs to the role. As a fairly recent recruit, I’m very grateful to have a great committee with many years experience at the club, if you’d like support in anyway, please let me or my committee know.
I have chosen the Air Ambulance as my charity and I hope to be able to raise enough to fund a few emergency flights.
