In January 2020 Market Harborough Golf Club was announced as the first winnerof the
at the annual GOLF ENVIRONMENT AWARDS ceremony , presented in Harrogate at the BIGGA (British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association) national conference.

The GOLF ENVIRONMENT AWARDS have been in existence since 1995. The aim of the awards is “ to recognize, reward and promote outstanding individuals and golf courses, no matter how big or small, for the time and effort they have put into protecting and preserving their unique surroundings”

The HOME UNIONS NATIONAL AWARD is an addition to this list, and was presented for the first time in 2020. Thus, MARKET HARBOROUGH GOLF CLUB are the winners of the inaugural presentation of the award. This award has been introduced to mark the achievements of a golf club that have recently begun their ‘journey’ in terms of environmental management.
