The photo shows the award being presented by Iain Lancaster (England Golf) to (second and third from the left) club representatives Jim Jacobs and Bob Roberts (Environment Steering Group), and to Head Greenkeeper Chris Weir.

The  GOLF ENVIRONMENT AWARDS have been in existence since 1995. The aim of the awards is “ to recognize, reward and promote outstanding individuals and golf courses, no matter how big or small, for the time and effort they have put into protecting and preserving their unique surroundings”

Each year a number of different awards are made:

  • Environmental Golf Course of the Year
  • Conservation Greenkeeper Award
  • Outstanding Environmental Project of the Year
  • Operation Pollinator Award

The HOME UNIONS NATIONAL AWARD is an addition to this list, and was presented for the first time in 2020. Thus, MARKET HARBOROUGH GOLF CLUB are the winners of the inaugural presentation of the award.  This award has been introduced to mark the achievements of a golf club that have recently begun their ‘journey’ in terms of environmental management.
