I was persuaded to join MHGC after learning to play golf at another local club. As soon as I pulled into the car park to meet the then Lady Captain, a current member came over to greet me. With a big hug, she said, “are you thinking of joining? Well, you’ll be very welcome, we’re the friendly club!” And, of course, she was right. I felt right at home straight away and over the last 6 years, as I have got to know more people at the club, I have never regretted my decision to join. I enjoy playing in most of the competitions and matches both within the club and also in ladies and mixed matches against other clubs both within the county and beyond.
I have never been in any doubt that joining MHGC was a very good decision as on every round I feel so glad that this is my home course. The views from various points are just beautiful, there are options to play fewer holes during the winter months and, whilst not a flat course, the hills and slopes make for interesting rounds!
We have a very active and growing ladies’ section, due in part to the success of our Ladies Academy which is run by our professionals, Kegan Jameson and Mikey Chambers. This is a great way for ladies that are either new to golf, or those who are returning, to learn new skills and to play and improve.
We are always looking to welcome enquiries from anyone wishing to continue with their golf at Market Harborough or to take up golf and join our very friendly Academy. A warm welcome awaits!
I am thoroughly looking forward to my year as Lady Captain and hope to build on all the amazing work done by my predecessors in ensuring that MHGC retains its well-deserved reputation as “The Friendly Club”
