I was born In Glasgow, with my father insisting we return there from Lincolnshire so that I could be born a proud Scot. Just prior to my 2nd birthday we returned “down South” and I have been in England, living all around the country, ever since.
My career was spent in direct and digital marketing. I set up and sold a number of businesses, working with many fantastic people along the way – both clients and colleagues.
My love for golf started in my teens, but moving to London in my early 20’s to work put a stop to it. I restarted after my 3 children became less dependent & my wife allowed me out again at weekends!!
When I moved to the area in late 2013 I checked out a few courses in the locality. I signed up immediately after having played at MHGC and it was a great decision. Apart from the course being the best in the area, it is a very welcoming and friendly club as well.
I’m honoured to have been asked to be the Men’s Captain at Market Harborough and I will endeavour to bring my enjoyment of the game and my experience from my work to the role as Captain.
My chosen ‘Charity’ this year is Dementia – Harborough: supporting people affected by dementia in Market Harborough and the surrounding areas. Formed in March 2011 to provide support for those newly diagnosed with dementia and their families, and to provide a place where they can have fun together, and jointly support each other. They now run a range of activities for people affected by dementia, including the Dementia Café, a Singing for Memories Group and trips out to places of interest.
