I have the honour to be the captain of the Men’s Section of our club for the 2021 season, in which capacity I welcome all new and prospective members to our great club. We are so very lucky to have a wonderful tract of undulating and interesting countryside over which to have developed the course for the last 100 plus years, and in doing so we have also been able to enhance and develop the ecological and environmental aspects of the course and its surroundings, to the degree that last year the club won a prestigious national environmental award for it’s work. It is therefore both a challenging and a beautiful place to enjoy your golf, and for visitors and societies to also experience all that we have to offer, as set out elsewhere on our website.
For those of you who may also wish to know a little about who I am, I am a soon to be retired Chartered Surveyor and have lived and worked in and around Market Harborough since 1974 and have been a member of our Golf Club for over 20 years. If you do not often see me on the course this is probably because I tend to spend most of my time in the bunkers and trees but somehow still manage to maintain a dodgy handicap of 11. I play with the B team and try to compete in as many competitions as possible, whilst also enjoying playing many other courses across the country, which always makes me appreciate just what a great course we have here. Beyond golf I am a keen countryman and walker and spend as much time as I can on the fells of the Lake District.
I look forward to seeing you at our club.
